Game poster Design
Ideation phase

This project involved the conceptual design and creation of promotional posters for Flight Risk, a whimsical multiplayer party game concept pitched by Louis Lambert, current QA at Rocketwerkz NZ.

The Project

The game centers around a sugar glider protagonist navigating a chaotic world of high-flying party antics, drawing visual and gameplay inspiration from titles like Fall Guys, Mario Party, and Party Animals.

I collaborated closely with Louis during the initial discovery phase, gathering key information about the game's tone, mechanics, visual style, and target audience. Our goal was to create a poster that not only captured the spirit of the game but also hinted at gameplay energy and aesthetics. The concept combines cartoony visuals, soft edges, and vibrant colours with a playful woodland-meets-urban setting, blending natural elements like forests and earthy tones with hints of human architecture in backgrounds (think forest condos).

Gameplay activities include competitive mini-games such as acorn capture, hide and seek, and chaos-driven party modes that inspire laughter and friendly rivalry. The visual language of the game leans toward clay-like characters, exaggerated features, and stylised environments that evoke Fortnite’s polish and Fall Guys’ charm.

For the poster, I used AI tools (Midjourney) during the ideation phase to generate concept directions, gather stylistic references, and test visual compositions. From there, I curated and developed three unique poster concepts in Photoshop, experimenting with layout, colour, and typography. Each version was designed to explore different moods and player expectations while remaining consistent with the intended tone of the game.

Special attention was given to the custom typography. Inspired by bubble fonts with dimensional flair, we explored playful details like integrating an acorn as the “i” in Flight, subtle yet memorable nods to the game’s identity. This project showcased the power of AI-assisted ideation combined with hands-on design refinement, culminating in a visual pitch that helped bring the Flight Risk concept to life.
